The belief that “if I do enough healing, I will stop struggling” often becomes another form of self-rejection.This belief began in childhood: Being criticized for making mistakes. Feeling responsible for other people’s emotions. Being praised only when performing well.
Learning that love, acceptance, or safety depended on being “good enough.”Healing is not the absence of triggers.
Healing is shortening the time between being triggered and returning to yourself. You may still get hurt. You may still feel fear. You may still have difficult days. But instead of spiraling into self-judgment, you learn to respond with curiosity. As a trauma-informed coach, this is often one of the most liberating realizations for clients: the work is not becoming perfect; the work is ending the war with yourself whenever life happens.like, share or DM if this resonates with you.
